How did you learn to draw/sculpt?
I've been drawing/sculpting ever since I can remember, and took up digital art around 11. Back then I only had a dinosaur copy of Photoshop from my dad's office, and an offbrand tablet that didn’t quite work. Because of that my techniques developed using mainly standard brushes, & I still prefer them.
Surprisingly, I was a much better sculptor that illustrator for the longest time. I've sculpted a few statues/posable dolls through the years. I’m self taught in 3D art, but am currently focused on digital drawing.
Inspirations
I love being around animals, and they’re my main interest, Though I’m also interested in fantasy creatures, my preference is for naturalistic animals (more “Make Way for Ducklings” than “Peter Rabbit”). I try to make joyful art in opposition of what life often is. It helps as an artist with less than perfect health to draw cheerful creatures, and I hope they bring you a little joy too.
My artistic inspirations come from natural history illustrations, documentaries, and old children's books. Many have told me the bright and colorful animals remind them of stationary they had as children, which I definitely see. Though to be honest I was always more of a Transformers kid growing up 😆
Hardware
I mainly use an iPad Pro 10.5, and have been increasing using a Cintiq Pro 24. The Cintiq is connected to an old laptop of mine.
Software
iPad: Artstudio Pro & Procreate
Laptop: Photoshop
What brushes do you use?
Aaahhh I get asked this a lot XD I only use the standard ones included in the softwares, and import the PS ones to Artstudio Pro. Most of my digital art experience has been with hand me down software that couldn't import brushes or rotate canvas, & I've learned to adapt to that style. A piece can be nice whether or not you use special brushes, and you should try different methods to see what you like.
What size canvas do you use?
I usually go around 5-6000px wide for print purposes (and my iPad only crashes a little XD)
Will you make tutorials/videos?
I'd love to! But I’m kinda new, and I wasn't prepared for all the wonderful love I've received for it.
I'm hoping to figure out my process eventually, and also how to structure tutorials/shoot videos 💕
Haven't been around that much, and early on just posted some creature art here and there. In March 2019 I started my first Instagram account, and have been slowly posting around~
